Black Cumin (Nigella sativa)

Black cumin, also known as Nigella sativa, is an annual plant from the Ranunculaceae family, cultivated for its pungent seeds which are widely used as a spice and in traditional medicine. It is native to Southwest Asia, parts of the Mediterranean region, and Africa, where it has a long history of culinary and medicinal use.

The seeds have a fragrance similar to fennel and a spicy flavor somewhat reminiscent of nutmeg, although they are not related to either.
